Q:I visited a network doctor on 17th December 2023 and the received the bill dated 5th February 2024. My insurance expired on 31st January and did not cover the bill. Isn't the service date supposed to be considered?

A:
For specific claims questions you will need to reach out directly to the claims department of your insurance company. Insubuy is a broker and does not process or handle claims. The number to your claims department can always be found on the back of your insurance ID card or you are welcome to call our for assistance. If a covered event occurred while the policy was effective, then that is absolutely taken into account when approving a claim. There are several different potential reasons on why you may have received a bill. Please reach out to the claims department for more information and obtain your Explanation of Benefits. If you have any additional questions please call out office at 1(866) 467-8289.

Q:We are looking for F1 visa and OPT student insurance. When it says direct billing does it mean, provider will bill insurance company and insurance is going to pay amount directly to provider and then I need to pay remaining or I need to pay fully first out of pocket and then should I need to put a claim. which plans ensure that Insurance pays first to Provider

A:
That is generally correct. The PPO network is going to be the avenue in which providers will have the ability to directly bill the insurance. So yes, if the provider directly billed the insurance, and there was a remaining amount left over or a deductible you have to meet, you would have to pay the difference. Please be advised however, that it will always be up to the provider on how they would like to bill, even if they are in-network. There is no plan that can gaurentee that the provider will directly bill the insurance. You can check our article on the Claims Process for more information. If you have any additional questions please let us know.
