Q:Hi Team Insubuy, At the outset, I would like to thank you for providing a ton of information on the topoic of travel insurance. This has made it simpler for us to choose from a select set of policies. For my parents, aged 73 and 75 , visiting us in California from India, I am stuck between two choices.1. Safe Travels Elite Diamond Plus2. Atlas Premium AmericaI had 2 queries. Looking for your expert advice on the same. 1. The Safe Travels Elite Diamond Plus is a Fixed plan but has a PPO network. Is there a Out-of-Pocket maximum for this plan?Since this plan has a PPO network, wouldn't this be comparable to a Comprehensive plan?2. Is it a good choice to buy one of these policies for a month and extend it on a monthly basis till my parents return back to India? Are there any disadvantages with this approach?

A:
The PPO network has nothing to do with how the plan will pay out, and does not make a fixed plan and comprehensive plan similar. All the PPO network does is provide a list of doctors that have negotiated rates with the insurance and provide the ability for the provider to directly bill the insurance company. Travelers Medical plans will not have an "out-of-pocket maximum" as every policy will have a policy maximum and if expenses exceed that amount the insured would be responsible for that. Fixed coverage plans are going to pay a sub-limited fixed amount, per a schedule of benefits. The majority of the costs will always be coming out of the insureds pocket rather than the plans. It would absolutely be recommended to purchase any of the Atlas series' plans over Safe Travels Elite. The only disadvantage to purchasing the plan and extending it as needed is there is a $5 extension fee each time you extend. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Q:I have a policy expiring on 21st May. I have extended my trip but visiting UK after the 20th of May for 7 days . Can i extend the same plan ?

A:
Yes, you would be welcome to extend this policy if you are continuing your travels. However if the UK is your Home Country, you would need to purchase a different plan, as the plans will end when you enter back into your home country unless otherwise stated. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Q:Clients is age 75 and 70, travelling from India to Oregon. They are looking for 200k comprehensive coverage, is there any plan which can give or can we give 2 plans of 100K

A:
International Major Medical can offer a $250,000 policy maximum for ages up to 79. If that plan is not available, yes, you would need to purchase two policies from different administrators, such as Atlas America and Safe Travels USA Comprehensive.
